THE FLOWER OF THE EAST
Zakynthos is one of the Ionian Islands, on the Western side of Greece. It's famous for its picturesque windmills that follow the aircraft as you make your descent onto the island's national airport. The first view of these structures will make you realise that you are in Paradise.
The airport is surrounded by the brown and white windmills, a signature design feature of the Venetians. Unfortunately, they are no longer in use but remain as an acknowledgement to Zakynthos' past.

The golden shores of Agios Navagio are a five minute walk from the airport - making the area an excellent day trip. Beach umbrellas and towels decorate the seaside making it the perfect place to experience an enjoyable Greek afternoon.
Zakynthos Island Airport has its own AVIS office and Air Attica customers can get a discount when renting a motorbike. Buses are no longer available to the town capital.
