our people, our home
Naxos is the capital of the New Hellenic Republic. The political heart of the city is located at the south western tip of the island by the shoreline; the rest of the city and suburbs lie on the surrounding hills.
The city is home to the residence of the Emperor of the NHR, the State Parliament, ancient temples, various headquarters and amenities. The standard of living is much higher than the rest of the country, with public baths and the five star Electra Palace hotel located on main streets.

The city has had a maritime tradition since its founding. Ferries, warships and yachts travel to Naxos during the winter to shelter from cold waters and during the summer to enjoy the high temperatures and pleasant weather. The nearby tavernas also cater for fish lovers who are looking for a local dish.
Antiquity hasn't left the metropolis and various ruins are held in high regard among the townspeople. The temple of Athena watches over the city while the Temple of Apollo looks out for approaching vessels.
